In By Your Neighbour, a group of young dancers from Västerås, move through the city in an interplay between bodies, architecture, and the invisible threads that bind us together. They explore what it means to be together—to share space, time, and direction.
How can we meet in movement, listen through our bodies, and let dance become our common language beyond words?
With sensitivity and courage, they allow dance to blur boundaries—between the individual and the collective, between me and you, between the familiar and the unknown.
This project was organized by The City of Västerås as well as Västerås Concert Hall to invite, and give young dancers between the age of 15-20, living in Västerås, the opportunity to work in an artistic choreographic process and professional context.
Invited choreographer and project manager was Matilda Bilberg alongside the dancers Nassim Meki and Nerea Gurrutxaga.
It tends to the ever-changing reality of today, allowing movements to become voices to become space. With an intimate presence she, the performer, a vessel of experiences, moves from behind and around. Dances become cast and suspended as she invites the audience to hold hands with our future past.
